It is quite important to notice, that in the first carve up in the chapter there is a word unreal which gives us a clue about what this chapter will be about. This representation of beginning the chapter, makes us think about what is really real and what is a fantasy in this book. It make grows us to wonder what we should and shouldnt believe. Other chapters in fact build all this up, since in most of them Gatsby is lying about who he really is and where he is coming from. He creates a fantasy of himself and what he would esteem to be besides to impress Daisy, he does the same for her. And this chapter just emphasises this.
When Gatsby offers Nick a job which would get a serving of money without doing much, he is trying to pull him into the fantasy of lavishness life, but unfortunately by doing illegal work.

Nick is contemplating in his head, whether to take up an offer or not since it sounds very elicit. But Nick, trying to stay on the right side, replies that he is much obliged.
Before, Daisy comes over for tea, Gatsby is very stressed, he really wants to impress her. He even gets Nicks grass cut for him, so this makes his house look to a greater extent pleasant and exquisite. We could sense how unquiet he was, because he kept on peering towards the bleared windows from clip to time. When it was two minutes to four, he got even more tense and started panicking that Daisy is not going to turn up, so he wont fulfil his fantasy.
