Their eyeball Were Watching God is a novel written by Zora Neal Hurston. This novel is about a girl named Janie who goes through a lot of different things throughout her life time. Janie is a co-dependent and charming women who experiences many situations through three unions. After reading Their Eyes Were Watching God, I have linked my own experiences to those of Janies three marriages, which were based upon coming-of-age, protection, money, appearance, love, and freedom.
Janies first marriage was to Logan Killicks. This marriage was based on protection and coming-of-age. Yeah, Janie, youse got yo womenhood on yuh. Her grandmother, Nanny, felt that it was time for her to grow up and select married. Two people got married, not because they loved each other, barely because they were getting old and didnt want to live alone. Janies first marriage to Logan Killicks was based on protection and coming-of-age. Taint Logan Killicks Ah wants you to have, baby, its protection (Hurston 15). Janie did not want to get married to him nevertheless Nanny made her because she wanted Janie to be protected.
I have a friend whose parents got married because the mom mandatory someone who will always protect her. The moms decision relates to Janies because they both made life ever-changing decisions based on their life needs instead of love.
Janies second marriage was to Joe Starks. This marriage was based upon money and appearance. รข€¦but he bought her the best things the butcher had, like apples and a supply lantern full of candies (Hurston 34). Joe thought that the much money he had the more Janie would love him. My dads best friend is besides married to his wife because they own a business together.
