In-Class Essay: Jane Eyre
The bandage of Jane Eyre is strongly influenced by Janes character. She is a very strong-willed and intellectual cleaning woman who is non afraid to speak her mind and tell person exactly how she feels. She is very assertive and expresses her morals and beliefs very strongly with no problem at all. Throughout the book she is tried and true by hardship and onerousness to see how strong she is. She has to write out with her conflict to find self happiness. At the beginning of the story, Jane is discontent because she lives a hard life, but then her life gets amend when she meets Mr. Rochester. When Mr. Rochester is no longer a part of her life, she is sad again. The plot of the story is based on Jane finding happiness and overcoming oppression and heavily influenced by her character.
An example of Janes influence on the plot is, I resisted all the way: a cutting thing for me (6). This example shows Jane being strong-willed. She is being taken to the expiration room because she supposedly started a fight with John, but this is not true because Jon was actually the one to start the fight. This is the reason for her resistance. In this situation, Jane is faced with oppression, and she tries to use her strong-will to get out of her predicament, but it is no use.
This example also shows that Jane is constantly oppressed by her kin life with her aunt and she goes through many hardships. The reader sees her capacity that she uses to make it through all these tough situations she faces.
When Jane says, Psalms be not interesting (29), she shows her assertiveness in expressing her beliefs. This occurs when she is meeting with Mr. Brockelhurst and he is asking her questions. He is asking her about her beliefs and how she feels about her faith. When he asks her if she finds the Psalms interesting, instead of sugar coating it, she is very coarse and says no. she has absolutely no problem in weighty someone exactly how she feels.
