The story of Ethan Frome is a sad and pitiful story of a spell whose brio was filled with problems and despair but was too scared to do anything about it. Ethan could have make many selects in his intent to change his power, but was unable to be a man and take charge of his life. or else, he just complained and felt distressing for himself. Ethans choices in his earlier part of life are almost of the reasons why he got stuck in such an awful situation and was so gloomy. When Ethans mom was sick, Zeena came to take care of her and in away in addition took care of him. The very first cadence Ethan allowed Zeena to have control, he sealed his horrible fate. As he came to rely on her for both help and companionship, he did not want her to leave for the fear of becoming lonely again. He thought Zeenas volubility was music in his ears (Wharton 41). But before they could, Zeena got sickly which prevented him from pursing his plan. She really just wanted to stay because she could not bear losing her power that she had in Starksfield. Instead of Ethan choosing to do what he had always planned, he just went on with what Zeena wanted. This first decision of allowing Zeena to have control, prompted Ethans go with the prevail attitude and his softness of standing up to Zeena.
