Book Review - Left to Tell

Last week I was very fortunate to pay back something that very few people get the opportunity to experience. I attended the National Black Catholic Conference. I was a little worried nigh going at first, save everything changed after listening to the most incredible woman speak. Her image is Immaculee Ilibagiza. She spoke about her experiences that she encountered in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. In her book left hand to Tell, she goes further into detail about her incident. She says one prayer unploughed her alive during the genocide; The Rosary. While she spent 91 old age in a 3x4 foot secret bathroom with sextet other women, she prayed the rosary from the moment she woke up until she fell dormant again, even dreaming of Jesus. Meanwhile a million Tutsis were beingness murdered over the course of three months, including her family, friends, and class mates. By the grace of god and forgiveness, she managed to survive this tragedy and is able to dowry her story with people around the world, becoming featured on PBS, 60 Minutes and receiving numerous awards.




Hearing Immaculee Ilibagiza speak about her story at the conference, left me in tears. To hear the utterance of Immaculee, herself, tell us about her hope and faith was absolutely amazing. As we were leaving, they announced that her books were available for purchase. Immediately I downloaded remaining to Tell and began reading it. I did not think anything could be more powerful than hearing Immaculee share her experience until I read her book. The simplicity is so powerful. She did not have to apply all types of advanced rhetorical devices, she just told her story.
