The scene is summer of 1970 in small town America. Dustin is an intermediate twelve-year old kid. He hangs out with his friends, eats pizza, has a destroy on a girl, and even functions bullied by the tough kid. Jonathan Sperry is an of age(p) man who employs Dustin to mow his lawn. Jonathan has the young man in for lemonade and thusly invites him to come back with his two friends. Mr. Sperrys cheerful air and generous spirit draw the three of them in immediately. along with chocolate cake and ice cream, he gives them lessons of life. They begin confrontation weekly, bringing more and more friends. Soon, there is a fraternity of boys reading their Bibles and having discussions regularly. Teaching the boys that the Bible is The Word of God, their guide in life, Sperry engages them in a scavenger hunt.
He illustrates to them how many plenty are misguided about heaven and eternity because they take for grantedt have the right instructions on how to get there or dont have directions at all.
By example, Jonathan shows the boys what it is to have compassion, how to forgive, and inspires them to share their love for Jesus with others. Dustin is asked by Sperry to mow the lawn of a grumpy old man across the street. Later, Dustin learns that this is the very man by whose careless actions caused the death of Sperrys wife. Jonathan compels the boys to pray for a boy who had been stealing their pizza property and pushing them around. His bullying had been
