Character Analysis of Aylmer

?Shelbi Holt 7/30/09 Character Analysis In The Birthmark, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the character Alymer is portrayed as a mad scientist. He c ares active his married woman, but his love for science and intellect overcomes all love he could ever have for her. By look Alymer is a mad scientist, I am meaning that he will go to great lengths to learn and create cures and constrain intertwined with science itself. Alymers behavior is very manipulative slightly others. He doesnt just come out and narrate how he hates Georgianas birthmark, his actions say it for him. He uses his behavior to cause what he wants from people. Every time he would look at Georgianas face he would shudder a little(a) so it would turn over her feel uncomfortable with her birthmark, and so consequently he could try to get rid of it. I do not think that Alymers actions were very wise because his willpower and pride were the cause of his own wifes death. His ethical motive were not morally correct. He was more focused on trying to create perfection (which is not possible) than embracing his wifes flaws and loving her for her imperfections and who she truly is.
