A America in China

I middling visited chinaware - and loved it. I just read Wild Swans and was blown absent by the history of your country from this womans perspective. I came back to the US and told people, at that place is no they in China - each person I met told me history/herstory from their perspective. Most every unitary was kind and generous to me. I visited China with Global Exchange, a nonprofit organization from San Francisco. Our goal was to set out out how China is dealing with sustainability issues - energy, environment, community - food, water, air, people - We purposefully stayed in Chinese run hotels, ate at Chinese run restaurants, hired Chinese tour guides... we didnt do the common tourist thing, but instead met with people from all kinds of brand-new nonprofit organizations - we went from Beijing to Yunnan and back - on trains, buses, planes - we learned how one school in Yunnan Province is making methane gas to heat their classrooms and cook their food using humanure and pig manure; we entangle the heat in Xian at 112 degrees F. We learned roughly the 3 stove cities in China, when we visited Xian (why are in that respect not hundreds of roof gardens and window boxes?) -- I was blown away by the numbers of people in Shainghai and the unbelievable sum of money of consumerism and corporate globalized product being sold...

and in Beijing I was appauled and embarassed that there is a Starbucks in the Forbidden City - sure enough that should be outlawed - but what I came away with was and is unparalleled to me, and I cant wait to come back. What I essential to say to our American fellows: not just to grease ones palms buy buy up China, but to exchange more stories with terrene people... My government, in my opinion, is deeply flawed, but our constitution is deeply blue-chip - what we as US citizens stand for in our constitution is something Im proud of - but what our country is doing in many way, Im against.
